👍 Sociale medier

“Yet the changes have been decried by some of the very users they were meant to aid, who view the metrics as an essential part of their experience. That’s left platforms in the awkward position of detoxing users from an addiction they initially introduced to users.”

Facebooks memo til redaktører er blevet lækket

Det indeholder blandt andet:

The Information:
“Editors will wait for two whitelisted media outlets—publishers who have qualified to be listed as official news sources on Facebook—to confirm a breaking news story if the story is based on an “unsubstantiated report.” How a report would be defined as “unsubstantiated” couldn’t be learned.”

Emergencies (28 percent) was the most common critical information need served by local news stories in the categorized group. Aside from critical information needs, 31 percent of stories categorized covered sports and 9 percent were obituaries.”

Twitter-algoritme får brugerne til at følge flere

OneZero:
“The average user with Twitter’s algorithmic timeline — now the default — follows 10% to 15% more people than those who have reverted to the old reverse-chronological timeline, the company told OneZerothis week in response to an inquiry. […]

I noticed in my own experience using Twitter that the algorithm had gradually changed how I thought about following people. I used to limit my follows to 1,000, and whenever I went over that number, I would go looking for people to unfollow. Now I follow more than 2,000 and don’t give it a second thought, because I know Twitter isn’t going to show me everything they tweet.”

Axios:
“Disinformation is increasingly based on images as opposed to text,” said Paul Barrett, the author of an NYU reportthat’s prompted a renewed look at the problem.”Instagram is obviously well-suited for that kind of meme-based activity. […]

They’re keeping their main account and brand and being careful not to violate policies or get that account suspended, and using other proxy accounts to share screenshots. They have also the impact but not the accreditation back to the main account, so they’re circumventing the rules.”
