“TikTok Chief Executive Shou Chew’s appearance in Congress on Thursday did little to calm the bipartisan fury directed at the viral video-sharing service. If anything, his more than four hours of testimony gave critics more fuel to insist the app be banned in the US.”

🤨 TikTok forsøger at berolige annoncører

📉 Meta fokuserer mindre på metaverset

Fra Axios:

“A year and a half after renaming itself after its metaverse initiative, Meta has noticeably de-emphasized that vision for the future.

The big picture: Meta is fully in sync with a moment that has many large companies cutting headcounts, shuttering side projects and chasing the promise of generative AI.”

🔙 YouTube åbner for Trump igen

Fra Axios:

Catch up quick: YouTube initially suspended Trump’s account in January 2021, several days following the January 6 insurrection, after his account violated its policies for posting content that incited calls to violence.”

⚠ Twitter lukker for SMS-godkendelse for ikke-abonnenter

“Many Twitter users risk losing access to their Twitter accounts after this weekend. The issue at hand is Twitter’s previously announced move to revoke text-based two-factor authentication (2FA) from all Twitter users who do not subscribe to Twitter Blue.”

“On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks. To keep your blue checkmark on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue”

Fra The Verge:

“Amazon will be shutting down DPReview, the trusted and comprehensive camera reviews website, as part of the 18,000 job cuts it announced in January. According to an announcement posted on the site, the DPReview team will continue publishing reviews and other content until April 10th, after which ‘the site will be locked, with no further updates made.'”

⁉ Hvad gik der galt for Twitch?

Fra The Washington Post:

“For Twitch, the live-streaming platform watched by over 30 million viewers each day, 2022 was not an easy year. Now, with the company set to lay off hundreds of employees in the next few weeks, it’s feeling the impacts of tumult — and bracing for more.”

“Spotify Technology SA’s $100 million Creator Equity Fund, designed to promote diversity in music and podcasts following controversial comments by the company’s star podcaster Joe Rogan, spent less than 10% of the money on that work as it rounded out its first year.”

🕹 Sådan arbejder NYTimes med spil og bundling

‘We’re taking new subscribers who previously would’ve added the Games subscription and we’re offering them the bundle, which we think is a better deal in terms of giving them access to more products,’ said [head of games Jonathan Knight].”

📈 Bonnier News får 7400 kunder til “+Allt”-bundle

😟 Fyringer hos platforme skaber bekymringer i branchen

Fra Digiday:

“Some feel exposed given how reliant they are on their platform reps to support campaigns. Others are frustrated because the cuts make it even harder to access what they felt was already quite inaccessible expertise from inside these companies. “

Ikke alle er bekymrede:

💸 Californien vil forsøge at få tech-firmaer til at betale til medier

Fra The Washington Post:

“California lawmakers this week are launching a plan to force digital giants like Facebook and Google to pay publishers for news content, taking a contentious global fight to the state level.”
