🧒 TikTok sætter tidsbegrænsning for mindreårige

Fra AP:

“TikTok said Wednesday that every account held by a user under the age of 18 will have a default 60-minute daily screen time limit in the coming weeks. The changes arrive during a period in which there are growing concerns among different governments about the app’s security and ability to alter its algorithm to push certain posts.”

Eller gør de..?

😬 Der er en stigning i Twitter-nedbrud

Fra The New York Times:

“In February alone, Twitter experienced at least four widespread outages, compared with nine in all of 2022, according to NetBlocks, an organization that tracks internet outages. That suggests the frequency of service failures is on the rise, NetBlocks said. And bugs that have made Twitter less usable — by preventing people from posting tweets, for instance — have been more noticeable, researchers and users said.”

Fra The Verge:

“Twitter product manager Esther Crawford no longer has a job at the company following yet another wave of layoffs, as first reported by Platformer’s Zoë Schiffer. Crawford headed up various projects at Twitter, including the company’s Blue with verification subscription as well as Twitter’s forthcoming payments platform.”

“Last week, Twitter managers started receiving unexpected calls from Steve Davis. A longtime associate of Elon Musk’s — he began working at SpaceX in 2003 — Davis is currently CEO of The Boring Company. Since loaning himself out to Twitter last year, Davis has emerged as one of Musk’s top lieutenants there. “

“Russia issued a two million ruble fine ($27,000) to Wikipedia on Tuesday, claiming the site refused to remove ‘misinformation’ about the country’s military involvement in the Ukraine War. The Kremlin issued a series of laws last year restricting reports that contradict Russia’s official message.”

📉 Kundeklubber mister medlemmer

💡 Ny model for brugerbehov

🙅‍♂️ Ny aggregator-app vil være fri for “corporate” narrativer

Fra Nieman Lab:

“OptOut’s two main requirements for a news outlet to join its network is that it be financially independent and that it consistently produce reliable and accurate journalism. Outlets are also supposed to support fair labor practices (no ‘anti-union activities’ allowed) and, if they’re ‘opinion- or interview-based publication[s]’, they shouldn’t promote or legitimize ‘conspiracy theories or other false content.'”

📈 Substack har 2 mio. digitale abonnementer

Fra hestens mund:

“Today, there are more than 20 million monthly active subscribers and 2 million paid subscriptions to writers on Substack. Some of the world’s most celebrated writers are here—Margaret Atwood, George Saunders, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, to name a few—and they have been joined by a new generation of writers who are building their livelihoods on Substack, a cohort that includes rayne fisher-quann, Lenny Rachitsky, and Erik Hoel, as well as new institutions such as The Free Press, The Mill, The Ankler., and many more.”

🎮 Er der en fremtid for spiljournalistik?

Fra Nieman Lab:

“The world’s power brokers are investing desperately in the games industry, but games media is another story entirely.”

📱 Hypen er slut, men BeReal rummer stadig muligheder for annoncører

Fra Digiday:

“BeReal isn’t just losing steam with users, it’s now losing steam with marketers and creators too.

That’s not to say BeReal has entered its flop era. It’s still far too early to write the app off completely. It is, however, already clear that marketers are well past the apex of the hype cycle.”

🤖 Sådan bruger de dygtige AI i deres kampagner

Fra Think With Google:

“Holiday shopping’s evolution from a five-day extravaganza to a multiseason event is reshaping the strategy of retailers globally. While attracting early traffic is important, capturing quality traffic should be the top priority for brands looking to increase profits.

But, as channels continue to proliferate and blend, this can be a challenge. In response, many industry leaders are increasing their investment in AI-powered campaigns to capture bursts of interest from top spenders as they move across touchpoints.”

📏 Tidligere Facebook-chefer bag startup, der lover bedre annoncemåling

Fra The Wall Street Journal:

“Two former executives of Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc. are seeking to solve one of the social-media industry’s biggest challenges in recent years: allowing marketers to measure the effectiveness of their ads while maintaining user privacy. “

Del 4: Udvikling og tech

Her får du et kig på nogle af ugens historier indenfor den digitale udvikling og teknologi, der enten direkte eller indirekte kan have betydning for medier/udgivere.

😬 Axel Springer: AI kan erstatte journalister

Fra The Guardian:

“Journalists are at risk of being replaced by artificial intelligence systems like ChatGPT, the CEO of German media group Axel Springer has said.”

Mere:

🦾 …og Snap ligeså

Fra Digiday:

“Snap yesterday released a new chatbot for Snapchat called “My AI,” which is powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT and helps generate text-based messages to answer trivia answers, write haikus, come up with recipe ideas and plan trips. But despite all the potential fun, Snap — which is making the feature available to paying users through its Snapchat Plus version — was also upfront with users by warning that things could still go wrong.”

✨ Meta lancerer “large language”-modellen LLaMA

Fra hestens mund:

“As part of Meta’s commitment to open science, today we are publicly releasing LLaMA (Large Language Model Meta AI), a state-of-the-art foundational large language model designed to help researchers advance their work in this subfield of AI.

Smaller, more performant models such as LLaMA enable others in the research community who don’t have access to large amounts of infrastructure to study these models, further democratizing access in this important, fast-changing field. “

🆕 OpenAI lancerer API til ChatGPT

Fra TechCrunch:

“Priced at $0.002 per 1,000 tokens, or about 750 words, Brockman claims that the API can drive a range of experiences, including “non-chat” applications. Snap, Quizlet, Instacart and Shopify are among the early adopters.”

👨‍🦯 Musk vil bygge ChatGPT-rival uden begrænsninger

Fra The Information:

“In recent months Musk has repeatedly criticized OpenAI for installing safeguards that prevent ChatGPT from producing text that might offend users. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but has since cut ties with the startup, suggested last year that OpenAI’s technology was an example of “training AI to be woke.” His comments imply that a rival chatbot would have fewer restrictions on divisive subjects compared to ChatGPT and a related chatbot Microsoft recently launched.”

✨ Mød Financial Times’ første AI-redaktør

Fra Nieman Lab:

“Now, as the Financial Times’ first-ever artificial intelligence editor, Murgia has been tasked with leading coverage on the rapidly evolving field and providing advice and expertise to other FT reporters as they “increasingly encounter stories about how AI is upending industries around the world.” In the newly created role, she’s being asked to sort the hype from the truly transformative in an industry characterized by both.”

“The Oakland Tribune, in the late 1990s, operated much the way newspapers had for decades, with a few recent additions. The beige desktop computer that each of us reporters worked on was now equipped with direct access to the paper’s own digitized archives, the AP wire, and an email account.”

Herhjemme vil Danske Medier gerne have opmærksomhed omkring brugen af mediers indhold, skriver MediaWatch:

🤨 Bing-chat indtager Windows 11

Fra The Verge:

“The new Bing integration is a surprise addition that Microsoft hasn’t been testing with its Windows Insiders. A new Bing icon will appear within the search box in the taskbar, with Microsoft highlighting the new chat answers experience in the search flyout. While chat answers won’t be available directly within the search flyout, Windows 11 users will be able to quickly start a Bing chat in Edge from here — providing they have access to the Bing preview.”

🤚 Apple pauser app-opdatering p.g.a. AI-bekymring

The Wall Street Journal skriver:

“The dispute shows the broad concerns about whether language-generating artificial-intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT, are ready for widespread use.

Apple took steps last week to block an update of email app BlueMail because of concerns that a new AI feature in the app could show inappropriate content, according to Ben Volach, co-founder of BlueMail developer Blix Inc., and documents viewed by The Wall Street Journal.”

“Our mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence—AI systems that are generally smarter than humans—benefits all of humanity.

If AGI is successfully created, this technology could help us elevate humanity by increasing abundance, turbocharging the global economy, and aiding in the discovery of new scientific knowledge that changes the limits of possibility.”

🤯 Organoid Intelligence kan blive vildere end AI

Fra Fast Company:

“It can carry out tasks that stymie even the smartest artificial intelligence models, such as learning new information or remembering old information, and then commandeering that data in an independentlogical, decision-making process—something that has discombobulated even whiz-machines like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.”

🕶️ Her er Metas roadmap for AR/VR-hardware de næste fire år

Fra The Verge:

“During an internal presentation, Meta execs laid out plans for three new Quest headsets, AR glasses in 2027, and a ‘neural interface’ smartwatch.”
