Facebook udvider i Danmark
MediaWatch:

Digital Trends:
“YouTube took down an incredibly realistic — and fake — video purporting to show Kim Kardashian West discussing a shadowy organization called “Spectre” and mocking her fans for violating copyright. The takedown on Monday could give public figures a new weapon in the fight against deepfakes, but it won’t help much as fake videos increasingly target everyday people.”
YouTube har brug for principper
Axios:
“Vox Media’s Peter Kafka and Nilay Patel both put it to Wojcicki that YouTube was too big and too heterogeneous to be able to operate a one-size-fits-all set of bright-line rules about which content stays up and which stays down. But Wojcicki rejected that idea outright. ‘We need to have consistent policies,’ she said.”

The Atlantic lancerer ‘Daily Idea’ til smart speakers

Hollywood er sultne på podcasts
Digiday:
“Hollywood’s hunger for podcasts is one part of a feeding frenzy among film and production companies hunting for source material they can turn into film, television and premium streaming video, with books, video games, and even magazine articles are all available in a growing bazaar that has, for years, been a seller’s market”
CNET:
“Unfortunately, the first version of Apple News on the Mac that launched in 2018 didn’t live up to the usability of its iOS counterpart. The Mac version was cumbersome for jumping between channels and topics, made it difficult to share stories from within the app, made it nearly impossible to open stories in Safari and would maddeningly hijack any email or text links that people shared with you from Apple News on iOS.”
“News avoidance” er en ting nu
Nieman Lab:
“The latest edition of the Digital News Report that came out last week included some data on news avoidance. In 2017, 29 percent of those surveyed worldwide said they ‘often or sometimes avoid the news'”
Brexit får mange briter til at undgå medierne
MediaWatch:

“The conventional thinking around paywalls is often that if general news is available elsewhere then people won’t pay for it. Schibsted has found early indicators suggest the opposite. […]
‘We’re finding that if you want to see that article on a specific brand, you’re connected with it and that brand is important to you'”
A4 Medier halverer underskuddet

Marketing Land:
“I could even argue that characterizing the market as a duopoly isn’t even accurate, with Facebook only accounting for 11.7% of digital ad spend. Whether Google’s share of over 29% makes it a monopoly is a discussion for another day.”
I en anden artikel nævner Marketing Land, at Google, Facebook og Amazon sidder på “just under 70% of all digital ad dollars spent”.
Public Service Puljen klar med millionstøtte til HBO Nordic
MediaWatch:

? Udvikling og tech
Her får du et kig på nogle af ugens historier indenfor den digitale udvikling og teknologi, der enten direkte eller indirekte kan have betydning for medier/udgivere.
Som ventet: Facebook lancerer kryptovaluta
Facebook Newsroom:
“The first product Calibra will introduce is a digital wallet for Libra, a new global currency powered by blockchain technology. The wallet will be available in Messenger, WhatsApp and as a standalone app — and we expect to launch in 2020.”
Version2:
Wired skriver om “the Ambitious Plan Behind Facebook’s Cryptocurrency”.
Herhjemme ser Saxo Bank problemer forude for Facebooks nye valuta, skriver MediaWatch.
Hos The Guardian advarer tech-forfatter og -journalist Charles Arthur og skriver, at “Facebook’s new cryptocurrency must be resisted”.
- Is Libra really a cryptocurrency?
- Can Libra take blockchains mainstream?
- What’s in it for Facebook?
Wired anbefaler anti-tracking-muligheder
“If you want to push back against online tracking, you’ve got several options to pick from when choosing a default browser. These are the browsers that put user privacy high on the list of their priorities.”
Sådan kan du bruge native share i en mobil-browser
CSS-Tricks:
“The Web Share API is one that has seemingly gone under the radar since it was first introduced in Chrome 61 for Android. In essence, it provides a way to trigger the native share dialog of a device (or desktop, if using Safari) when sharing content — say a link or a contact card — directly from a website or web application.”
Husk at tjekke understøttede browsere – altså hvor funktionaliteten virker.
Genius anklager Google for at kopiere sangtekster
The Wall Street Journal:
“‘Over the last two years, we’ve shown Google irrefutable evidence again and again that they are displaying lyrics copied from Genius,’ said Ben Gross, Genius’s chief strategy officer, in an email message. The company said it used a watermarking system in its lyrics that embedded patterns in the formatting of apostrophes.”
